Thinking Outside the Bunn has decided to no longer allow anonymous comments.
The reason for the decision is because it really doesn't make sense to allow random strangers, who are not courageous enough to stand behind their comments, to come in here and drop "scuds" and then slink away.
Basically, the way I see it, is that if someone doesn't have the guts to sign their name to a comment, they've forfeited their right to comment at all.
I think it's true in life, too. If you're not willing to talk to the person you have issues with--face to face--then you forfeit your right to talk to anyone else about the situation. Unfortunately, few people have the personal character to operate this way. It's easier and more fun to gripe and complain to everyone but the person they have an issue with.
Comments are welcomed and encouraged on Thinking Outside the Bunn. I'm all for legitimate, honest, thoughtful comments--even if they disagree with my point of view. Even if the person leaving a comment has a problem with me or my posts. That's cool. I'm just not allowing anyone to do it the cowardly way anymore.
Your thoughts?

I agree and have been thinking about this for my blog as well. Good stand to take
Have you gotten bad comments? I think people leave anonymous comments on blogs because they can't figure out how to sign in or maybe they don't have an account. Maybe :o) I used to have trouble signing in, but now I'm a pro!

Hey John!!!! We miss you guys!!!!
It only took one off-color anonymous comment on my blog for me to stop allowing them.
Hope you are all doing well!
I've gotten cowardly comments. Most anonymous comments are fine and well-intended. Unfortunately when someone makes accusations or sweeping generalizations anonymously, it ruins it for the well-intended.
You shouldn't have to put up with that, I agree with your point of view. A person of charactor should always come forward with his, or her, opiniom with a name!
The internet makes it way too easy for people to throw their opinions around without having to own up and take responsibility for what they say.
"What's that, the masses disagree with my thoughts? No problem, my name's not next to them anyway."
I'm down with the change, John...glad to see you doing this.
I never liked the word "anonymous," it sounds like a breed of rare mice. Or a throw back of the rat family. Positive move I believe.

I couldn't agree with you more John!
thanks, everyone, for your non-anonymous comments! :)
just tryin' to be a non-anonymous blessing...
Yeah... there's a big difference in an anonymous comment... and an anonymous comment with the intent to hurt, accuse or "expose" (like there's something to hide - please!).
Hey, Anonymous, why don't YOU try living ABOVE the line yourself... own your comments... and try to focus on what's RIGHT in the world for a change.
I'm with you, John!

Hardcore...dig it!
What's funny is that Anonymous misses the point altogether. If you can read between the lines, there's some real irony in all this.
