Happy Thanksgiving.
It was just our family at home today...all day. It's been a good day. Turkey, mashed potatoes, pecan pie, pumpkin pie...the works thanks to Jenny Bunn. She rocks. At dinner Naomi asked each of us to share something we're thankful for. I shared...and I'll share some more right here:
- My family. I can't get enough of 'em.
- Jesus. Unbelievable friend and leader.
- A sense of meaning and purpose in my life. As Dwight would say, I've experience success, now God has given me significance. Words can't describe how sweet that feels.
- Good health. I'm pushing 40 and I can still get up and down the basketball court pretty well (can still knock down the 3-ball, too).
- Friends. There's not many things better than sitting down and having a meaningful conversation with people you care about. I got to do that several times this week.

Amen to having things to be thankful for. 2007 has been a rough year with Carla being diagnosed with cancer in January, her dad dying suddenly in February, 10 months of chemo, a recurrence of the cancer, loss of income, we could really get down. But you know what? God is Great! He has blessed us so much. We are thankful for so many wonderful, caring, kind and generous people. We are thankful for our church family, especially our small group, who has been there for us. We are thankful for the spiritual and prayerful support of Pastor Jim, who was with us at the hospital for all of Carla's surgeries. We are thankful for all of the thousands of people who are praying for Carla and the rest of us - from Florida, to Canada, from Massachusets to California. It is so awesome to feel totally covered in prayer. We are thankful for the excellent, knowledgeable medical staff that is caring for Carla. We are thankful that I have a great job that offers plenty of sick time that has allowed me to attend all of Carla's medical appointments - no matter how small or routine they may be. We are thankful for our families who have been there to help us out. We are thankful for all of the people who helped with the benefit dinner and all of the hundreds of people who came. We are thankful that we have been able to keep paying all of our bills and still have a beautiful home to live in.
Yes, we have a lot to be thankful for. We love you all!
