Andrew while bugging his older sister:
I can't make myself stop.
Natalie while instructing Andrew on football:
Try not to tackle yourself.
Andrew while reenacting a football play in slow-mo:
Okay, pretend I'm me.
Is your family weird, too?

Roger and I have talked about this subject many times going home on Sunday nights and after reading your blog because so many of the family things you bring up mirror ours. We don't think 'weird' is the correct word. Jovial, fun-loving, secure, those are the types of words to describe your family.
I believe it comes from a fundamental security that these kids do not have to worry about certain stresses that most families have.
Mostly, though, I feel that the children, while allowed to be children, are raised in a way that makes their thought process more mature than their counterparts while at the same time, the parents aren't afraid of letting their 'adultness' go and come down to the level of having fun with the kids.
The personality of the parents sets the tone for the whole house. If we are goofy, how can we expect anything less from our kids?
P.S. I think it says alot about the parents to even listen beyond their grown up conversations to hear and appreciate the fun things that kids say!!!!
Of course, when I say weird...I mean it in a good way. :)
