sunday’s scuds (july 4, 2010)

Dave D’Angelo brought us part two of the Christian series (even enduring an interruption by a good friend (more on that in a later post). Part two dealt with repentance. Here are the scuds:

  • Our tendency is to focus more on what others say about us than what God says about us.
  • There’s more to repentance than that first time we say “yes” to Christ.
  • Though I can act like Christ, I don’t always react like Christ.
  • Change in our lives doesn’t happen until we begin to think differently
  • What to change your behavior? Change your thinking.
  • Repentance is an active process of changed thinking leading to changed behavior.
  • Repentance involves: first a change of mind and then a change of direction.
  • Repentance is a process. If you’re said “yes” to Christ, it’s a part of your future.
  • What’s in your heart will always make its way to the surface.
  • Facing the truth is hard…but it’s necessary.
  • What you and I see in life is dictated by our experiences.
  • Want to be the prudent person scripture speaks of? Get intentional about your experiences and your relationships.
  • Do your life’s experiences add up to God-type experiences?
  • Repentance renews our power to love.
  • It’s hard to love others when you think you’re perfect.
