sunday’s scuds (november 14, 2010)

Part three of the Only God series was awesome! I sat in on the first service and had a great time worshiping and learning. Dwight’s message was one of those that felt like it was directed right at me. Do you ever feel that way?

I tried to keep up with the scuds he was firing. Here’s what I wrote down:

  • There are only three ways we can spend our lives: 1. wasting them, 2. spending them, or 3. investing them.
  • The average person influences 10,000 people in their lifetime.
  • How are you leveraging what God has given you.
  • Maybe you’ve been leveraging what you have for yourself.
  • If you’re going to continue to grow, you’ve got to continue to risk.
  • Is there anyone in your life that “because they say so, you will do it?” If not, then you’re your own god.
  • If God was God in your life then you’d do it because he says so.

There is a way that appears to be right, but in the en it leads to death. Proverbs 14:12

  • When you see as God sees, you will do what God says.
  • Seeing God for who He really is reveals to us who we really are.
  • You’re not smart enough to run your life.
  • Two ways God calls us to be generous: 1. Toward people, 2. Toward the church.

The Only God series continues Sunday at all three NewPointe campuses. See you there!
