Justin, nice to hear from you. Great thoughts man. So you're saying it's important for you to know where your volunteers are spiritually. I'd be interested to know how you guage that.

Tina, the big picture thing is huge. We've heard this time and time again and we've experienced it first hand: VISION LEAKS!

Good Stuff. I also think it's good for volunteers to know that they are a part of the big picture and that we, as leaders, are expanding their vision and letting them know how what they are doing is connected to that vision. They are truly making a huge difference.

DD told me once that I need to make sure my volunteer's are 1) paid and 2) that I know where they are at. That is, if i understand correctly, my volunteers find value in what they do and they are capable, perhaps spiritually, of doing it. As a new pastor I can already see a major difference in the lives of volunteers that have a DAILY growing relationship with God in contrast to those that don't. I can also see when volunteers feel like they grow, or rather worhip, through serving (get paid). Good food for thought.

Good list! In my work with volunteers, I would add two additional things...

1. They want to feel appreciated.
2. They want to like the people they are volunteering with (the "relationship factor")

I'm sure you could add a lot more from your experiences at NewPointe. In fact, why don't you write a book about it?... :-)
